Junk Removal in Edmonton: What Affects Your Quote?

There's no single price for junk removal, because no two loads are the same. One recliner from a main-floor living room is a very different job from a full basement of furniture, boxes and old appliances. Here's what shapes a junk removal quote in Edmonton, and how to get yours quickly.

In short: four things shape your quote.

  1. Volume — how much truck space the load takes.
  2. What the items are — furniture, appliances, debris or yard waste.
  3. Weight — dense materials like tile or concrete.
  4. Access and labour — stairs, distance and disassembly.

Separately, some hazardous items can't be taken at all — see items we can't take.

The four things that shape a junk removal quote

1. Volume: how much space the load takes

The biggest factor is how much truck space your items fill. A few bulky pieces can take more room than a pile of bagged junk, so describing items by size matters more than counting them.

2. What the items are

Furniture removal, appliance removal, mattresses, renovation debris and yard waste are all handled differently. Some items need two people, some need disassembly, and some have their own disposal requirements. Heavy materials such as concrete, dirt and shingles need to be mentioned up front.

3. Weight

Dense loads like tile, plaster, brick or wet materials weigh far more than they look. If your load includes them, say so when you ask for a quote.

4. Access and labour

Where the items are matters. Curbside or garage pickups are quicker than carrying a sectional up from a basement or down three flights of stairs. Long walks from parking, narrow halls and items that need taking apart all add labour time.

Items we can't take

This isn't a pricing factor: hazardous materials can't go in a junk removal load at all. That includes paint, chemicals, fuel, propane tanks, batteries and asbestos. The City of Edmonton's Eco Stations accept many household hazardous items, including paint, propane tanks and batteries. Check the City's accepted-items list before you go.

How to get an accurate quote fast

  • Send photos. Attach up to 8 photos to the quote form, or text them to us. In most cases, photos let us quote without a site visit.
  • List the big items: "sectional sofa, fridge, 2 mattresses, about 15 boxes" is far more useful than "a garage full".
  • Say where everything is: curbside, garage, main floor, basement or upstairs.
  • Mention anything heavy or unusual, such as a piano, a hot tub cover, renovation debris or exercise equipment.

Ways to keep your junk removal cost down

  • Do it in one visit. Gathering everything into one job is usually more efficient than several small pickups.
  • Sell or donate first. Items in good shape may find a new home, and they won't take up truck space.
  • Drop off hazardous items yourself at an Eco Station, so the rest of the load can go as one job.
  • Make access easy. Clear a path, and move smaller items to the garage or curb if you can safely do so. You don't have to, though: our crew loads from wherever the items are.
  • Ask about our current offer: 15% off junk removal for seniors and for curbside pickups. One discount per job.
