Bin Rental vs. Full-Service Junk Removal: Which Do You Need?

Both options get rid of unwanted stuff, but they suit different jobs. A bin rental gives you a container to fill at your own pace. Full-service junk removal sends a crew to do the lifting and hauling in one visit. Here's how to tell which one fits your project.
The quick answer
Choose a bin rental if…
- You'll be generating debris over a few days, as in a renovation.
- You're comfortable doing the loading yourself.
- You have a driveway or firm, level spot for the bin.
- You want to sort as you go.
Choose junk removal if…
- You'd rather not lift heavy or bulky items.
- The items are in a basement, upstairs or hard to reach.
- You want everything gone in one visit.
- You don't have space for a bin, or don't want one sitting outside.

When a bin rental makes more sense
Bins shine when debris keeps coming. A kitchen tear-out, new flooring or a weekend of yard work all produce material steadily, and a bin lets you toss as you go. It's also a good fit when several people are helping and you want one central place for everything. Our bin size guide compares the 10, 12, 17 and 20-yard options.

When full-service junk removal makes more sense
If the job is mostly bulky items, such as a sectional, a fridge, mattresses or a basement of old furniture, a crew is usually easier. You don't carry anything, there's no bin on your driveway, and it's done in one visit. It's also the practical choice when there's nowhere suitable to place a bin — we just need somewhere close by to park the truck and a clear path for loading. Can you use both?
Yes. Some projects use a bin for renovation debris and a junk removal visit for furniture or appliances that are hard to lift. Because Hauling Heroes offers both, you can arrange it with one team.
Things that apply either way
- Hazardous materials, such as paint, chemicals, fuel, propane tanks, batteries and asbestos, can't go in a bin or a junk removal load.
- Heavy materials like concrete, dirt and shingles need to be mentioned up front.
- Photos make quoting faster for both services.

Frequently asked questions
Which is cheaper, a bin or junk removal?
It depends on the job. Bin prices are fixed by size ($270 to $395 CAD plus GST, including 3 days and 1 tonne). Junk removal is quoted on volume, item type and access. Send us photos and we can tell you which suits your project.
Can furniture go in a bin?
Household junk and furniture are generally fine in a bin. Hazardous materials aren't accepted, and heavy materials need to be confirmed first.
I don't have a driveway. Can I still rent a bin?
Placement options vary. Street placement may need a permit, so ask us before booking. If there's no suitable spot, full-service junk removal may be easier.
